Rut

Rut

This a project about life repeating itself

Repetition can be very pleasant for people, but for me it's something that I will always have to fight.
"rut"
(rʌt )
Word forms: plural ruts

1. COUNTABLE NOUN [usually singular, usu in a N]
If you say that someone is in a rut, you disapprove of the fact that they have become fixed in their way of thinking and doing things, and find it difficult to change. You can also say that someone's life or career is in a rut.
[disapproval]

Why?

I decided to make a project about something that I am struggling with. I would go crazy if everyday would be the same. Thats why I challenged myself with this assingment. I made things that are extremely repetitive. I chose to do this with cutlery, because that is something that only has one purpose, to eat with. It never changes. You will never find someone casually brushing her hair with a fork. I think that if we had the feeling that we only had one purpose, we would end up in a rut. I would end up in a rut.
I experimented alot with cutelry and repitition. Eventually I had to come to a final product. Something that really should drain me and make me feel the rut. I took a huge paper sheet that covered the entire wall of my school and used cardboard cutelry as stamps. I tried to fill the whole sheet with the same pattern of knives, forks and spoons. What I like about this project is that, although things look very repetitive, none is the same. This is a very wise lesson that I think you should remember if you feel like you are in a rut. You have to find happiness in the little things. Those things that seperate one day from another.
